WEEKEND CUSTODIAN

Council on Aging seeks part-time weekend custodian, 20-25 hrs/wk – Fri/Sat/Sun. Able to lift 50 lbs., climb ladders, move furniture, replace ceiling lightbulbs, etc. Level 2 background & drug screen required. $14/hr to start.

ASSISTANT FINANCE DIRECTOR

JOB SUMMARY:
The Assistant Finance Director assists the Finance Director to ensure the accuracy of funds that are received, disbursed and balanced. The position prepares the daily financial transactions and ensures compliance with applicable Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

The Assistant Finance Director will be expected to be professional, highly organized, detail oriented, with the ability to meet deadlines and have strong verbal and written communication skills. This position will double-check the financial statements, cash flow statements, bank reconciliations and the revenue and expense statements.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties include working closely with the Finance Director to analyze financial reports to ensure requirements of GAAP compliance. The ideal candidate holds an accounting degree or equivalent experience and is familiar with accounting software. Primarily, the responsibilities of the Assistant Finance Director are to monitor the accuracy of all daily and monthly financial transactions.

Candidate must be able to:

      • Oversee the Federal, State, Municipal and Private Grants, ensuring that the transactions are in compliance with the grant contact regulations.
      • Complete the payroll tax forms – 941 and RT-6, W-2 and 1099s.
      • Double-check accounts for general ledger journal entries.
      • Understand basic accounting, accounts payables, accounts receivables, payroll, bank reconciliation and general ledger principles.

The ideal candidate would have non-profit experience with fund accounting.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

      • Proven ability to calculate, post and manage accounting and financial records.
      • Data entry skills along with an excellent 10 digit keystroke ability.
      • Proficiency in MS Office, including Outlook, Excel and Word.
      • Customer service orientation and negotiation skills.
      • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

SUPERVISION:
Performs duties under the supervision of the Finance Director.

WORK EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS
2 years accounting experience preferred.
Experience working with the elderly or other vulnerable population in a customer focused environment.
Must be able to pass the Level 2 background check required by DOEA.
Must adhere to Drug Free Workplace standards.

EDUCATION:
BS degree in Accounting or equivalent experience.

PHYSICAL WORK REQUIREMENTS:
Able to sit and work at a computer keyboard for extended periods of time.
Able to stoop, kneel, bend at the waist and reach on a daily basis.
Able to perform general office administrative activities: copying, filing, delivering and using the telephone.
Able to lift 30 pounds.

NOTE: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. SALARY:
$48,000 TO $51,000 depending on experience.

NUTRITION PROGRAM KITCHEN AIDE

The Nassau County Council on Aging is seeking a part-time (25 hrs/wk) Kitchen Aide for its Nutrition Program in our Fernandina Beach Life Center. The Kitchen Aide provides assistance to the Nutrition Program Manager by ensuring that the overall operation of the congregate dining site and the duties required have been performed.

The hours are 8:00am to 1:00pm Monday thru Friday. The salary for this position is $13 per hour.

Prepares the Clear Grand Hall for daily activities: preparing refreshments, organizing activities and preparing midday meals. Performs extensive kitchen duties.

Requirements: Excellent verbal communication skills, knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel), professionalism, must adhere to Drug Free Workplace standards, must be very personable, a team player with positive attitude and must have a valid driver’s license. Level 2 background screening required. High School diploma or equivalent. Able to stoop, kneel, bend at the waist and reach on a daily basis. Able to lift 30 pounds. ServeSafe certification also required but can be achieved after hire.
